What would you do if you were a teacher in a school to challenge homophobic bullying?

I would speak up and make it clear that bullying of any kind would not be tolerated in my presence and that to bully someone for being true to their self is cowardly. I would ensure the school policy on bullying is brought into effect to demonstrate that it is unacceptable behaviour.

I would hold sessions, where people can come forward and talk about their problems, and other sessions where I would discuss the topic LGBT, most people turn to bullying when they don’t completely understand a subject. Giving people a chance to understand or even open up and be listened to, can make a difference to a person mentally and emotionally. Schools need to frequently talk about this topic with their students, get them understanding that to bully another person just because of their sexuality is wrong and that their should be consequences.
